DescriptionThis image shows the south face of the Tabernacle. Carved of Cork limestone it is decorated with chevron, interlace and spiral patterns commonly seen in early Irish carving and metalwork. The stepped cross decoration is cited from early Christian metalwork like the 12th century Shrine of St. Patrick’s Bell (National Museum of Ireland, Dublin).
