The Honan Chapel - Gallery Collection
| Image Title | Honan Chapel: dossal by Evelyn Ross |
| Description | Evelyn Ross is a member of Society of Designer Craftsmen. She is an English designer and weaver of contemporary ecclesiastical vestments and abstract wall-hangings. This dossal design complements the simple beauty of the carved stone arches in the east wall. Together, the six panels give the illusion of looking through a multi-paned window at an abstracted landscape – a glimpse of a greater reality beyond our present reality. Christ is central to the context of the design, depicted as ‘dying’ and ‘present with us now’ (in the images on, and real presence in the Tabernacle), and as ‘risen’, in the east window. Ross explains: “In the spiritual realm, depicted as surrounding these images of Christ, I have tried to create, with colour, opposing or different aspects of the inner and outer life, which are integrated or redeemed in the golden light of Christ, symbolised by the golden triangle framing the Tabernacle.” |
