| Image Title | Honan Chapel: detail of arcading on the west wall |
| Description | An arcade, series of arches supported by columns or piers. An arcade may stand free; if it is attached to a wall it is called a wall arcade or a blind arcade. It is a feature of Hiberno-Romanesque architecture. The design features a zig-zag motif called a chevron. Ed Hembrook carried out the stone restoration for Richard Hurley. Hurley won an RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) Conservation Medal, Special Commendation for his work on the Honan Chapel in 1987 and 1992. |
