The Honan Chapel - Gallery Collection
| Image Title | Honan Collection: Chasuble by Barry |
| Description | Violet is the colour of humility and penitence. The colour is worn during Advent and Lent, in Masses for the Dead and Funeral Masses, and for Holy Saturday liturgies. It was formerly worn on days of fasting such as Ember days and Rogation days. Penitence is reflected in the abstract design of joined hands as if they are in prayer. Mary Barry was inspired by the colours of the windows of the Honan Chapel for her abstract design. This is a detail of the back of the vestment. |
