The Honan Chapel - Gallery Collection
| Image Title | Honan Chapel: detail of hinges of the west door |
| Description | The doors are hung on wrought-iron strapwork hinges designed by William A. Scott, professor of architecture in University College, Dublin and made by the metalworkers J.& G. McLoughlin & Sons, Dublin. The design draws inspiration from the comon Celtic designs in early medieval art: the spiral and interlace. This item has been comprehensively examined by Virginia Teehan & Elizabeth Wincott Heckett in The Honan Chapel: A Golden Vision published by Cork University Press in 2004. |
