| Description | In the Honan Chapel, the monstrance was used at the exposition, adoration and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. This silver, gilt and enamel monstrance was designed by William A. Scott, professor of architecture, University College Dublin. It is topped by a small Celtic cross and is supported on an octagonal shaft and base. The base carries the shields of the Honan Hostel and Chapel; Rev. Sir John Robert O´Connell; University College Cork; Munster; the diocese of Cork, Cashel and Waterford. This item has been catalogued by Virginia Teehan & Elizabeth Wincott Heckett in The Honan Chapel: A Golden Vision published by Cork University Press in 2004. |
